"Plassac, village of mosaics"
What would you think of a village-museum dedicated to mosaics?
This is the challenge of the Babylon Mosaic workshop, which has undertaken to supervise the creation of public mosaics that will adorn the village of Plassac.
Two works per year as long as the workshop is in operation!

Be careful, the project is not starting from scratch ... 100 meters from the workshop is the jewel heritage of the Village of Plassac, the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa with perfectly preserved mosaic beds .
The project tends to enhance this heritage by echoing it through contemporary public works with which the streets of the villages will gradually be adorned.

My desire through these group projects is to anchor the local population to its heritage through living workshops to practice this ancestral art, but also to promote meetings with mosaicists, professionals, amateurs or simply beginners because the projects will be developed to be accessible at all levels.

2021 PROGRAM

This year, the municipality of Plassac asked us to create a decoration for the church square.
This is a great challenge because the surface will cover 24 m2 in three large stone carpet modules.
These are therefore new new techniques for the project "Plassac, village of mosaics" with a creation on the ground, in which we will mix marble tesserae, colored glass slabs and pebbles. A very beautiful project in perspective to finally get together to create together.
(The health rules linked to the epidemic will be respected thanks to the loan of a large room by the town hall - Wearing a mask will remain compulsory.)

Did you know that by participating in the "Plassac, village of mosaics" courses:
- I participate in an artistic project which promotes the long-term cultural, economic and social tourism development of the village.

- I receive 45 hours of teaching contemporary mosaic techniques at half price because the material costs are at the expense of the local communities.

- I participate in a project to promote the cultural heritage of the territory thanks to the theme of the mosaic brought up to date through this activity of contemporary creation, so I bring my heritage to life.

- I will live a very enriching group experience in joy and good humor.

- I will handle the most beautiful materials used in mosaic and I will thus leave my mark in works that will be placed in the village forever.

- I participate in a project supported by Europe, the State, the department of Gironde and the municipality of Plassac. This project will have a major tourist impact in the next few years.
